Kentucky — Residents can now support students at Gateway and other colleges through a new specialty license plate benefiting the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.
The plate allows drivers to contribute directly to student emergency funding when renewing their vehicle registration.
“With every registration, $10 goes directly to our student emergency funds, helping remove non-academic barriers and keeping our students enrolled and on track to earn their credentials,” said Ryan Quarles in a press release.
KCTCS uses emergency funds to help students manage challenges such as housing, food, transportation, childcare, academic supplies, utilities, and medical expenses.
Officials say the program needs at least 500 registrations each year to remain sustainable. Residents who prefer not to purchase the specialty plate can still support the initiative by donating directly through their local county clerk’s office during vehicle registration.
“Our hope is that Kentucky residents will help spread the word to their friends, family, and colleagues so we can continue supporting students across the commonwealth,” Quarles added.
