LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A strong cold front is expected to move through Kentucky and southern Indiana late Saturday, bringing gusty winds, heavy rain, and a few isolated strong storms, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Louisville.

Forecasters say showers and thunderstorms will begin Saturday evening and continue into early Sunday. While the overall severe weather threat is low, a few stronger storms may develop overnight, especially across western Kentucky and southern Indiana.

Wind gusts could reach 20–30 mph Saturday afternoon, increasing to 30–40 mph on Sunday as cooler air pushes in behind the front.

The NWS expects rainfall totals between 0.75 and 1.75 inches, with some areas north of Louisville possibly seeing more than 2 inches. Cooler temperatures and lingering showers will follow throughout Sunday.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and prepare for travel delays, ponding on roads, and reduced visibility during periods of heavy rain.
