Up to six U.S. states could get hit hard by excessive rainfall on Thursday, August 20, leading to potential flooding.
Some places might receive more than 6 inches of rain throughout the day on Thursday, resulting in significant and “dangerous” flooding.
Much of the flooding will occur near I-95.
Heavy rains may trigger flash flooding along and east of the I-95 corridor tomorrow. A line of powerful thunderstorms will move across the Mid-Atlantic tomorrow afternoon and evening, delivering torrential rain from the Delmarva and New Jersey to the Philadelphia and New York metro areas. The warning indicates that rainfall totals of 2-6 inches might overwhelm storm drains and cause fast urban flash flooding.
Six states in the United States could be particularly heavily hit:
- New York
- Connecticut
- New Jersey
- Pennsylvania
- Delaware
- Maryland
