FRANKFORT, Ky. (WBKO) – The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is now accepting applications to fill game warden positions in multiple counties.
Kentucky game wardens serve as sworn law enforcement officers with statewide jurisdiction, enforcing all laws across the commonwealth.
According to the agency, their primary role is to enforce hunting, fishing, and boating laws, helping conserve the state’s natural resources while ensuring public safety on waterways.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license.
Candidates who pass the initial screening must complete several steps, including a physical fitness test, swimming test, oral interview, psychological and drug screening, polygraph exam, background check, and medical evaluation.

Applicants should regularly check their email, including junk folders, after the job posting closes.
Initial emails will include important, time-sensitive instructions, and applicants must respond by a specific deadline. Officials will also notify candidates about scheduling for fitness and swim tests via email.
Selected applicants who are not already Peace Officer Professional Standards (POPS) certified will complete 20 weeks of basic training at the Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond.

New game wardens are expected to be assigned to the following counties after completing this year’s academy: Allen, Barren, Bourbon, Breckinridge, Carter, Greenup, Henderson, Jefferson, Logan, Meade, Monroe, and Morgan.
