LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Louisville Parks and Recreation is reminding residents to follow safety guidelines after two people were hospitalized following a sledding accident.

The city’s first recommendation is to stay home. For those who choose to sled, officials advise using designated hills that are clear of trees, streets, and creeks.

There has been no update on the condition of the two individuals who were hospitalized.

Louisville Parks and Recreation said sledding hills will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. once snow accumulation reaches at least two to three inches.

The designated sledding hills include:

Cherokee Park (Baringer Hill, intersection of Alexander Road and Scenic Loop)
Joe Creason Park (Trevilian Way, across from the Louisville Zoo)
George Rogers Clark Park (1024 Thruston Avenue, behind the playground near McKinley Avenue)
McNeely Lake Park (6900 Cooper Chapel Road, near the Korean War Memorial)
Charlie Vettiner Park (5550 Charlie Vettiner Park Road, near the Easum Road entrance)

Mayor Craig Greenberg and Louisville Parks and Recreation also reminded sledders and the broader community that as temperatures drop, community centers will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Restrooms will remain accessible during the snowfall, with permanent facilities open at Des Pres, Seneca, and Joe Creason Parks, while portable restrooms will be placed at Cherokee, George Rogers Clark, and Charlie Vettiner Parks.
