LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office introduced new patrol cars on Thursday, featuring updated technology and a fresh black color scheme.

The new vehicles, funded with seized money from drug busts, will be deployed in the coming weeks. Unlike the older tan-and-brown cars, the new black vehicles will save costs since Ford no longer offers the previous color package.

“Going to the black vehicle actually saves money, and we don’t have to buy a car and then bring it in and have it repainted,” Chief Deputy Col. Steve Healey said. “Ford always offers this color package, so we’ll also be able to get our vehicles quicker.”

The patrol cars also include hands-free technology to help deputies while driving, enhancing both safety and efficiency on the roads.
