Bicyclist dies after being struck by vehicle in Kentucky

A Freeburn man died early Wednesday morning after a pickup truck struck him while he was riding a bicycle in Pike County, officials said.

According to the Pike County Coroner’s Office, 40-year-old Eric Bentley was traveling south on U.S. 119 when he was hit around 6:30 a.m.

The collision happened about a half-mile from Belfry Middle School in the direction of Williamson, West Virginia.

Emergency officials pronounced Bentley dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

The incident remains under investigation.
