A woman died after a Dec. 8 collision in west Louisville, according to a news release from Louisville Metro Police.

LMPD officers responded around 6 p.m. to a report of a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a “motor type bike” near the 8000 block of Cane Run Road, spokesperson Aaron Ellis said.

A preliminary investigation shows the woman, who was wearing dark clothing, was traveling on Cane Run Road on the motorized bike without proper safety equipment, he said. A pickup truck struck her from behind in the southbound lanes.

The driver stopped immediately, called for help, and stayed at the scene until first responders arrived, Ellis said. Emergency crews took the woman to UofL Hospital, where she died from her injuries shortly after arriving.

No other vehicles were involved, and police do not expect to file charges. LMPD’s Traffic Unit continues to lead the investigation.
