BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Local nonprofits and organizations are opening their doors to provide warm spaces for those in need amid persistently low temperatures in Kentucky.
Allen County
The VH Dream Center is offering an overnight shelter from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week.
The current schedule shows that all volunteer slots are filled to keep the shelter running overnight. Those interested in volunteering for future shifts can visit the sign-up site.
Barren County
Bridge KY operates its warming room whenever temperatures drop below 50 degrees, providing shelter seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during cold weather.
The nonprofit notes on its social media page that the warming room is accessible through the left front door at 1411 North Race St. in Glasgow.
Warren County
Warming centers open Wednesday and Thursday include Lifeskills Wellness Connection at 428 Center St. in Bowling Green and overnight shelter at Room in the Inn. Registration for Room in the Inn begins at 5 p.m. nightly at The Life Navigation Center at 423 W. Main Ave.
The Salvation Army in Bowling Green also serves as a year-round emergency shelter and soup kitchen. During daytime temperatures at or below 32 degrees, they operate under White Flag, allowing anyone in need to come inside, according to Hotel Inc.
