KENTUCKY — School districts across Kentucky are preparing for possible schedule changes as winter weather approaches the region.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Tuesday, with mixed precipitation and up to 2 inches of snow expected.

Many districts plan to make decisions early Tuesday morning. Here is how several school systems will determine delays or closures:

Bullitt County Public Schools

BCPS uses two weather-related options:
• Traditional Snow Day, which is made up later
• NTI Day, when students learn from home
The district aims to finalize its decision by 5 a.m. Students were sent home with laptops Monday in case an NTI Day is needed.

Carroll County Schools

Administrators monitor updates from the National Weather Service and regional meteorologists. Families are informed of closures through text, email, phone, social media, school websites, and local media. The district has 10 NTI days available.

Greater Clark County Schools

GCCS expects to decide by 5:30 a.m. and notify families by 6 a.m. The district may follow one of two plans:
• Two-Hour Delay: Schools open later, buses run two hours late, morning preschool is canceled, and there is no morning Prosser transportation.
• Schools Closed: An eLearning Day will be used.

Hardin County Schools

HCS staff begin assessing road conditions as early as 3:30 a.m., staying in contact with transportation officials and National Weather Service meteorologists. The district aims to decide by 5 or 5:15 a.m., with notifications sent by 5:30 a.m. Students have Chromebooks for NTI if needed.

Jefferson County Public Schools

JCPS posts official updates on its website, social media pages, and through School Messenger alerts. The district works closely with the National Weather Service and checks road conditions, school facilities, HVAC systems, and city traffic before recommending closures.

New Albany–Floyd County Schools

NAFCS uses two types of snow days:
• Traditional Snow Days, which may be made up during scheduled dates, including March 16–20, 2026
• eLearning Days, offered in asynchronous or synchronous formats based on state requirements and weather severity

Oldham County Schools

If schools close Tuesday, the district will use an NTI Day involving remote instruction and independent learning. Families receive updates through the district website, social media, and Infinite Campus Messenger. The district has 10 NTI days available each year.

Districts urge families to monitor official communication channels early Tuesday for updates on delays or closures.
