LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Mary Harville, president and CEO of the Kentucky Lottery, announced her retirement after 22 years of service, effective February 2026.

Harville, the first woman to lead the Lottery, was appointed by Gov. Andy Beshear five years ago and is credited with increasing sales by over $1 billion and reducing operating expenses to a record low of 1.9% of sales. During her tenure, she helped secure approval for online ticket sales, a growing revenue stream for the Lottery.

“It has been my honor and privilege to serve as the face of the Kentucky Lottery and connect with fellow Kentuckians throughout the Commonwealth,” Harville said.

Gov. Beshear praised her leadership, highlighting her focus on funding educational opportunities for Kentucky students. Under Harville, the Lottery was named a “Best Place to Work in Kentucky” by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce for five consecutive years.

Harville’s successor will be Maggie Garrison, the Lottery’s current Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer, a 14-year veteran of the organization.

Since its inception, the Kentucky Lottery has contributed more than $7.6 billion to state scholarships and grants benefiting Kentucky students and their families.
