A Kentucky sheriff was arrested for a suspected third DUI after allegedly driving 110 mph while intoxicated. Terry Gray, 48, was taken into custody on October 7 by Mason County deputies, according to The Daily Mail.

Gray, the Robertson County Sheriff, faces charges of DUI, reckless driving, wanton endangerment, and official misconduct. This marks his third alleged DUI in two years.

His first DUI occurred in December 2023, when officers caught him driving drunk near a school in his police cruiser. The second incident was in August 2024, when Gray was allegedly intoxicated while driving a tractor, overturning it, according to Lex 18.

The latest offense happened after Gray nearly crashed into a Mason County sheriff while in uniform, with handcuffs and a firearm visible. He initially refused field sobriety and breathalyzer tests, but officers found a bottle of Fireball whiskey in his vehicle. In custody, his blood alcohol content measured 0.226, nearly three times Kentucky’s legal limit, The Ledger Independent reported.

Calls for Gray’s resignation are growing. Governor Andy Beshear stated he expects Gray to resign within five days, or he will remove him from office. Sheriff Ryan Swolsky, who initiated the traffic stop, said Gray’s actions tarnished the badge and are unacceptable.

Gray is scheduled for arraignment Monday morning in Mason District Court.
