NICKERSON, Kan. — Two people were killed Monday in a crash in Reno County, Kansas, including a West Virginia woman, authorities said.
The Reno County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as Nicholas Brilhart, 31, of Sterling, Kansas, and Sharon Davis, 66, of Weston, West Virginia. The crash occurred on K-96/K-14 near the 82nd Avenue bridge. Two others, including an infant, were injured and remain hospitalized in Wichita.
According to the sheriff’s office, a silver Subaru SUV heading north crossed the center line and entered the path of a southbound Ford F-150 pickup. Both drivers swerved to the right shoulder to avoid the collision, resulting in a head-on crash.
The pickup driver sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from a hospital in Lyons. Witnesses stopped to assist the victims until first responders arrived.
The Reno County Sheriff’s Office expressed condolences to the families and friends of those affected and thanked all who helped at the scene, including rendering aid, consoling victims, and directing traffic.
