Maryland Woman Wins $50K at 7-Eleven

A Silver Spring woman who claims she rarely buys scratch-off tickets is celebrating a $50,000 Maryland Lottery win after trying her luck at a Hyattsville convenience store.

According to the Maryland Lottery, the Montgomery County individual bought a $20 100X the Cash scratch-off in mid-July at the 7-Eleven on 3737 Hamilton Street in Hyattesville. She put the ticket in her purse and went home before realizing she had won $50,000.

“I stared at it for a long time, stunned. I kept looking at it to see if anything had changed. “I finally told myself, ‘It’s true,'” she told Lottery officials.

The woman, who works as a rental property manager, stated that she routinely visits establishments that sell lottery tickets but usually walks away without purchasing them. She intends to use the $50,000 reward to help pay for her family’s tuition.
