Dog accidentally fires shotgun, injures woman outside Nebraska convenience store
Police in Nebraska say a dog accidentally shot a woman with a shotgun outside a convenience store.
Officers responded to the store around 12:07 p.m. after receiving a report that someone had been shot with a BB gun. While heading to the scene, dispatchers updated officers that the incident actually involved a shotgun.
When officers arrived, they found a truck with a camper attached. Investigators said the passenger-side door panel showed damage consistent with a shotgun blast.
According to Scottsbluff police, the truck owner had stopped at the convenience store while a passenger stood near the front passenger-side door. A dog sitting in the back seat moved across the vehicle and accidentally triggered a shotgun that had a live shell in the chamber, causing it to fire.
At the time of the blast, a woman was stopped at a traffic light with her arm resting outside the window. One shotgun pellet struck her in the upper right arm.
Police said the injury was not considered life-threatening. A family member drove the woman to the hospital for treatment.
