CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. – Woman dies after loose umbrella severs artery at South Carolina restaurant
A woman died Saturday after a loose umbrella struck her while she was eating at a restaurant.
According to the Clarendon County coroner, the umbrella hit 56-year-old Dana Weinger in the neck and severed her carotid artery. She died at the scene.
Officials said strong winds caused the umbrella to come loose Saturday night.
In a Facebook post, Driftwood Grill wrote, “Our hearts are with the family, friends, and loved ones affected by the tragic incident.”
