Police said four Delaware State University students are wanted for promoting a takeover at Rehoboth Beach that happened Tuesday, May 19.
According to authorities, the takeover unfolded Tuesday evening at the beach and boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach, leading several businesses to close early and resulting in multiple arrests.
Those taken into custody Tuesday face several charges, including disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, underage alcohol consumption, and marijuana use in a public space, police said.
Police added that the Delaware State Police, the Department of Natural Resources, and several local law enforcement agencies helped respond to the incident.
Authorities also said Tuesday’s takeover marked the fifth such incident at Rehoboth Beach since April. Investigators have now charged four alleged promoters of the latest event with two felony counts each: intent to commit or facilitate a riot and second-degree conspiracy.
Here are the DSU students police are looking to take into custody:
- Xander Nicholl, 19, of Philadelphia, Pa.
- Angelin A. Clauvil, 21, of Milford, Del.
- Keyon D. Scott, 22, of Dover, Del.
- Eric Barnett, 21, of Saint Albass, N.Y.
Police said the four people charged also allegedly promoted previous takeovers at Rehoboth Beach, though they have not been charged in connection with those incidents at this time.
“At this time, there is no known danger to the public and we will continue to monitor future events to ensure the safety of our residents, visitors, business owners, employees, and their property,” the post stated in part. “We will take the necessary actions to keep the peace and good order of the City of Rehoboth Beach so that all may enjoy everything the City has to offer.”
