Jefferson County to send new property assessments to Louisville homeowners

Jefferson County has reassessed properties across several Louisville neighborhoods, impacting about 70,000 homeowners.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Property assessment notices will soon be mailed to residents in select Louisville areas.

In 2026, reassessments affect homes and businesses in neighborhoods including Prospect, Norton Commons, Glenview, Anchorage, Middletown, Lyndon, Hurstbourne, Douglass Hills, and Lake Forest.

Around 70,000 residents will begin receiving notices starting Friday, April 24, if their property values have changed.

Higher property values could lead to increased taxes, potentially causing sticker shock for some homeowners.

This year, Jefferson County is adding about $8.4 billion to the total assessment roll, bringing it to a cumulative $106.2 billion.

Residents can also check their updated property values online.

“See if your property value is in agreement with what you think it should be,” said Colleen Younger, Jefferson County’s property valuation administrator.

Those who wish to appeal can begin the process starting Friday, April 24 at noon.

The appeal window has been extended from 13 days to 25 days, with both online and in-person options available.

Appeals must be filed by May 18.
