COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) – A long-term road closure connected to the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project will begin May 1.
Crews will shut down West 9th Street in both directions between Crescent Avenue and Willow Run Road starting at 8 p.m. The closure is expected to last for the duration of the project, with substantial completion projected in 2033.
Traffic will be detoured using West Pike Street beneath Interstate 71/75. Drivers traveling north to south should use Philadelphia Street, while eastbound Pike Street traffic can take Main Street to reconnect with 9th Street.
A pedestrian detour from Goebel Park will also be in place.
The Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project covers about eight miles across Kentucky and Ohio. Plans include building a new companion bridge, upgrading the existing structure, and making improvements to reduce congestion and improve safety.
