Pedestrian killed in Louisville hit-and-run crash

KENTUCKY — Police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a young pedestrian late Thursday night in Louisville.

According to Louisville Metro Police, officers responded around 11 p.m. to the area of Vaughn Mill Road and Briscoe Lane after receiving reports of a person down in the roadway.

When officers arrived, they found a young male who had been struck by a vehicle. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s age or identity.

Preliminary findings indicate the victim was walking along the right shoulder of Vaughn Mill Road in a dark, unlit area and heading northbound when a vehicle traveling in the same direction struck him from behind. The impact threw him off the roadway and into a nearby ditch.

Police said the driver fled the scene without stopping to provide aid.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area at the time or has information about the vehicle to contact Louisville Metro Police at 502-574-LMPD (5673) or submit a tip through the department’s online crime tip portal.

The LMPD Traffic Unit continues to investigate the case.
