BURLINGTON, Kentucky — A 16-year-old has died, and three others were injured following a crash in northern Kentucky late Sunday.

The crash occurred around 10:34 p.m. when deputies with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident on Bullittsville Road in Hebron.

Police said a 17-year-old was driving a 2015 Honda Accord when he approached a sharp right-hand curve. The driver crossed left of the center line, overcorrected, and then veered off the right side of the road.

The vehicle struck multiple trees before overturning.

Authorities said the front-seat passenger was ejected from the vehicle and became trapped underneath it. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials identified him as Zachary Snyder, a 16-year-old from Burlington.

The driver, along with two backseat passengers—a 17-year-old male from Burlington and an 18-year-old female from Hebron—managed to exit the vehicle on their own. Emergency crews transported them to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said early findings suggest speed played a role in the crash, and neither the driver nor the victim was wearing a seatbelt.

“Bullitsville Road, if you’re not familiar, is a two-lane highway,” said Lt. Anthony Theetge of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department. “It is hilly, there are a couple of turns.”

Officials closed the road for several hours before reopening it around 3 a.m.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the crash.

“In my 12 years here, this is the most severe one I’ve seen on Bullittsville,” said Theetge.
