LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man died Friday night after being struck in a hit-and-run crash near Churchill Downs, according to Louisville Metro Police.

Officers responded around 8:37 p.m. to reports of a pedestrian hit near Southern Parkway and West Evelyn Avenue.

When police arrived, they found an adult man unconscious in the roadway. Investigators said he had been walking in the area when a vehicle struck him and fled the scene before officers arrived.

Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead.

The case is being investigated by LMPD’s Traffic Unit.
