The crash happened at around 11 p.m. on Thursday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A car crashed into the gates of Cave Hill Cemetery late Thursday night in Louisville, Kentucky.
The crash occurred around 11 p.m., with the impact strong enough to heavily damage the front of the vehicle and deploy its airbags.
WHAS11 News crews at the scene reported that the cemetery gate was bent open due to the collision.
Louisville Metro Police responded to the injury crash at 11:12 p.m., according to an LMPD news release.
Officers found one person injured inside the vehicle after it struck the gate. The individual was transported to UofL Hospital, where officials expect them to survive.
As of Friday morning, LMPD said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Cave Hill Cemetery was established in 1848 and now serves as both a cemetery and an arboretum.
Several notable Louisvillians, including Colonel Sanders and Muhammad Ali, are buried at Cave Hill Cemetery.
