At least one person was taken to the hospital and two employees were injured after a car crashed into a Bardstown Road restaurant on March 18, Louisville Metro Police confirmed in a release.

Spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said Fifth Division officers responded at 6:44 p.m. to reports of a vehicle crashing into Twig and Leaf, located in the 2100 block of Bardstown Road.

A preliminary investigation found that a driver traveling northbound on Bardstown Road near Douglass Boulevard lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason and struck the restaurant. Mitchell said the driver likely experienced a medical emergency before losing control and was transported to UofL Hospital in serious condition.

The restaurant was open at the time of the crash, and two employees suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

LMPD’s Fifth Division is continuing to investigate.
