KENTUCKY — Louisville Metro Police arrested two teenagers within about 90 minutes of a violent carjacking on Lydia Street.
Police said the robbery happened on Feb. 18 when 19-year-old Justin Broyles and a 17-year-old approached a woman as she walked toward her vehicle. Investigators reported that one suspect pointed a handgun at the victim while the other demanded her keys.
The woman escaped without injury, but the suspects drove off in her vehicle, according to police.
Officers relied on FLOCK camera technology throughout the city to track the stolen car. Police located the vehicle on Renwood Boulevard and arrested both suspects roughly an hour and a half after the carjacking.
Authorities said both suspects provided statements after being advised of their rights and admitted their involvement in the crime. Police also reported that the juvenile suspect was carrying a handgun with a defaced serial number.
Investigators credited coordinated efforts between patrol officers, investigative units and camera technology for the swift recovery of the vehicle and the arrests.
