HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is conducting a series of safety checkpoints throughout several western Kentucky counties as part of an effort to improve roadway safety.

KSP Post 16 announced checkpoints will be set up in the counties it serves, including Union, Henderson, Hancock, Daviess, Ohio and McLean counties.

Officials say the purpose of the checkpoints is to promote traffic safety by checking for proper licensing, registration, insurance compliance and to deter impaired driving. Motorists should expect brief stops at designated locations.

Counties Included:

  • Union County

  • Henderson County

  • Hancock County

  • Daviess County

  • Ohio County

  • McLean County

The checkpoints are positioned along major U.S. highways, Kentucky state routes and key intersections throughout each county, including heavily traveled corridors such as U.S. 60, U.S. 41, U.S. 231 and the Audubon Parkway.

KSP reminds drivers to:

  • Carry a valid driver’s license

  • Ensure vehicle registration and insurance are up to date

  • Follow all traffic laws

Officials say the checkpoints are part of ongoing efforts to reduce crashes and enhance public safety across the commonwealth.
