LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A woman has died in the hospital after suffering critical injuries in a weekend crash near Valley Station.
Louisville Metro Police said the crash occurred around 9:20 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, near the intersection of W. Orell Road and Lower River Road.
According to a preliminary investigation, a man driving east on Lower River Road swerved to avoid another vehicle pulling out of a driveway and struck a second car head-on.
The driver of the second vehicle reported no injuries, but her passenger was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital with critical injuries.
Police said the passenger died early Monday morning as a result of her injuries. Her identity has not been released.
The driver of the car that caused the crash was also transported to UofL Hospital with injuries and is expected to survive.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
