LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — Drivers in Shelby County should be aware of upcoming overnight closures on I-64.

Starting Monday, Jan. 19, I-64 West will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, between mile points 35.3 and 34.9. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour, taking the off-ramp to KY 53 at Exit 35 to reconnect with I-64 West.

I-64 East will be closed from 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, through 7 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, between mile points 34.9 and 35.3. Drivers should use the same detour via KY 53 at Exit 35 to rejoin I-64 East.

The closures are necessary for contract crews to demolish the KY 53 bridge over I-64 as part of ongoing bridge replacement work. Motorists should expect travel delays and consider alternate routes.
