LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man died Monday evening after a vehicle struck him while he attempted to cross Preston Highway, according to Louisville Metro Police.
Police said officers responded to a pedestrian-involved crash around 5:15 p.m. in the 7300 block of Preston Highway near Minor Lane, spokesperson Aaron Ellis confirmed.
Investigators said two men were trying to cross a dark section of Preston Highway and reached the center median, which serves as a turning lane. One of the men then stepped back into the roadway and was struck by a southbound vehicle traveling in the left lane.
The driver stopped immediately, contacted authorities, and remained at the scene. Police said emergency crews transported the victim to UofL Hospital, where he later died.
The second man was not injured, and police said they do not expect to file any charges in the case.
