BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) — A juvenile was taken into custody after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase through several Kentucky counties over the weekend, authorities said.
The pursuit began on Oct. 26, when Simpson County dispatch received notice that the Westmoreland Police Department in Tennessee was chasing a light blue Hyundai Elantra with Kentucky registration D1X272, reported stolen out of Nicholasville, Ky.
The chase continued into Allen County, where deputies with the Allen County Sheriff’s Office took over the pursuit. The suspect entered Simpson County along Highway 100, reaching speeds of more than 100 mph in a 55 mph zone, according to the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy C. Moody deployed spike strips near the intersection of Highway 100 and Highway 1008, but the driver swerved to avoid them, veered off the road, hit a sign, and came to rest in a roadside ditch.
The juvenile then fled on foot, running toward a gas station and into a wooded area. Officers later located the suspect on Macedonia Road, where Lt. C. Hansen of the Franklin Police Department arrested the juvenile without incident.
No injuries were reported. The juvenile was taken by F-S EMS to the Medical Center at Franklin for evaluation and later booked into the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.
The case remains under investigation.
