FRANKFORT, Ky. — Gov. Andy Beshear has signed two new bills into law that could help reduce the cost of living for some Kentuckians.
“These two pieces of legislation will help more families achieve homeownership by lowering mortgage rates and potentially reduce utility costs over the long term,” Beshear said in a statement Wednesday.
Senate Bill 57 establishes the Nuclear Reactor Site Readiness Pilot Program, which will provide grants for site development and licensing to help speed up nuclear energy projects in Kentucky.
The second measure, Senate Bill 157, allows Kentuckians to lower their mortgage interest rates by purchasing discount points and includes protections against abusive lending practices.
“Decisions at the federal level are causing costs to rise, and Americans across the country are feeling it at the grocery store, at the gas pump, and when bills arrive at the end of the month,” Beshear said. “Every step makes a difference when it comes to helping our people save their hard-earned dollars.”
