LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A deadly triple shooting in Louisville has left residents shaken, with many saying ongoing violence continues to make them feel unsafe despite a recent decline in homicides.

Through the first few months of 2026, Louisville is on track to record fewer than 100 fatal shootings for the first time since 2019. However, community members say those improvements do little to ease their concerns.

“It makes me feel unsafe,” one resident said Thursday. “I don’t even let my kids come outside, because all the violence around here is bad.”

On Wednesday night, a 13-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a triple shooting in the Algonquin neighborhood. The incident left two adults dead and a third critically injured.

Louisville Metro Police responded around 6:30 p.m. to the 1600 block of Brashear Drive, where officers found three adult victims. A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene, while another man was taken to UofL Hospital in critical condition.

The shooting occurred at Parkway Place, a housing complex operated by the Louisville Metro Housing Authority.

“LMHA is deeply saddened by this incident and understands the impact on the Parkway Place community,” spokesperson Jailen Leavell said in a statement. “We remain committed to stabilizing Parkway Place for the more than 1,100 residents who call it home, while planning for a safer, stronger future.”

On Thursday, maintenance crews worked to board up windows and clean the area, attempting to restore a sense of safety. Officials said vacant units in the complex have been broken into and used for criminal activity, contributing to ongoing concerns.

Residents described the violence as a recurring issue.

“This is the third shooting that I know of in less than a year that’s happened on this street,” one neighbor said. “I don’t even want to come outside. I stay in the house.”

Ashley Webb, deputy director of Louisville’s Office of Violence Prevention, said the city is working to support residents in the aftermath.

“We want to ensure the community knows they’re supported,” Webb said. “We’re here to offer resources, including mental health support, to those affected.”

The 13-year-old suspect is charged with two counts of murder, assault, tampering with physical evidence, and being a minor in possession of a handgun.
