An 83-year-old woman was discovered dead in her garden.
According to Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard, the woman, Martha Irene Van Egmond, died on Saturday at her residence on East Madison Street in Bolton.
Howard believes she died as a result of heat exposure, but he is awaiting medical documents for evaluation.
Her husband, Rick Van Egmond, said on Facebook that she fell in a flowerbed and he fell while trying to help her up.
He claimed they had been lying in the sun for more than three hours, unable to get up.
Egmond stated that two men from the apartments behind their home arrived to assist, but it was too late.
