26 Years Old Missing Freehold Woman Discovered Dead After Days-Long Search, Family Says

A days-long search for a missing New Jersey woman has resulted in tragedy.

Iyanna Asia Fairfax, 26, of Freehold, died after disappearing on Friday, June 19, according to a GoFundMe launched by her family. The campaign says she died on June 26.

Fairfax’s family stated only that her body was discovered in New York City. When the Daily Voice enquired on Tuesday, June 30, the NYPD did not provide any details.

According to a missing person poster provided by Fairfax’s family and advocacy organisations, she was last seen Friday night, June 19, and early Saturday morning at the 7-Eleven on Throckmorton Street, headed toward a bus stop.

Fairfax resided in Manhattan and had left behind her phone and other equipment, which was unusual, according to her family. Loved ones also suspected she had been moving across states in the days following her disappearance, sparking appeals for national awareness on social media.

On Tuesday, June 30, Fairfax’s family acknowledged her death four days earlier. Iyanna was artistic, loving, and compassionate. “She was a beloved daughter, sister, auntie, cousin, friend, and a truly unique soul whose light touched everyone who knew her,” her family said on GoFundMe. “Iyanna came back home to us – not in the way we prayed for, but she made it home.”
