HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Authorities are warning the public about ongoing jury duty scams.

The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office reported multiple incidents involving people impersonating deputy sheriffs and demanding money. Scammers are telling victims they must pay to have a supposed warrant recalled for missing federal jury duty.

Officials stressed that law enforcement agencies do not ask for money over the phone.

“It is essential to refrain from providing personal information to unverified sources,” the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
