ORANGE COUNTY, Ind. — A pilot survived after his plane crashed Saturday in southern Indiana, but it took rescuers over six hours to locate him.
Indiana State Police said they were notified around 10 p.m. by the Louisville airport and the FAA about a possible downed aircraft near the Lawrence and Orange county border.
Emergency responders searched through the night in a heavily wooded area. Around 4 a.m., they found the Lancair fixed-wing plane with the pilot inside, suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
Because of the crash location, the pilot had to be carried out on a stretcher. The FAA will investigate the cause of the crash.
