Las Vegas police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting in a parking lot earlier this week.
Andrew Avalos was arrested Wednesday and placed into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of open murder with a deadly weapon and prohibited person in possession of a firearm, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The shooting took place on Monday, September 21, around 7 p.m. near the 4600 block of Grand Drive, near Harmon Avenue and Koval Lane, just east of the Las Vegas Strip.
Patrol officers responding to various reports of shooting found an adult guy with gunshot wounds in a parking lot. Medical personnel pronounced the man dead on the scene.
Homicide cops said the victim and a male suspect got into an argument. During the disagreement, the defendant pulled out a revolver, shot the victim, and escaped on foot before cops arrived.
Detectives eventually identified Avalos as the culprit.
After notifying next of kin, the Clark County Coroner’s Office will announce the victim’s identification as well as the official cause of death.
