Missing New York woman discovered dead in Las Vegas, family says

Only 11 days after Alisa Goods’ family filed a missing person report, her death was discovered in Las Vegas. Sources told 8 News Now that Goods was discovered early Thursday morning in a wash near Harry Reid International Airport.

Goods, a New York native, was last seen alive on August 8, when she left her friend’s apartment near Maryland and Tropicana, east of the Las Vegas Strip, to pick up iron tablets from the CVS on Paradise Road and Harmon Avenue.

According to an update on their GoFundMe page, Goods’ body was discovered on Friday morning, which 8 News Now verified.

“For our family, this is a devastating loss,” the family stated in a message. “After the uncertainty and anguish of not knowing where she was, we are now faced with the painful reality of saying goodbye and making arrangements to honor her life and memory.”

Metro police responded to a call for service on August 20 about 1:45 a.m. following a report of a deceased woman in a drainage ditch near Wayne Newton Boulevard and the Harry Reid International Airport’s Terminal 1 parking garage.

Officers arrived and discovered a woman who was verified to be dead.

On August 8, surveillance video from the airport captured a woman tumbling down an embankment, climbing back up, and then collapsing. There was no additional movement after that, and her location was not visible from the street, according to Metro police.

Police identified the woman as Goods, who is 63 years old.

According to her relatives, Goods was staying in Las Vegas with her friend Roger John.

John told 8 News. He’s known Goods for nine years and used to let her stay at his apartment whenever she visited Las Vegas. He explained that this was her second trip this year.

“It’s just sad because she’s the nicest person you could meet,” John told 8 News Now on Saturday.

John stated that he last spoke with her around 12:45 p.m. on August 8, when she left his apartment to catch the bus.

John stated that he contacted her family and filed a missing persons complaint with Metro Police on August 10.

The Goods family plans to travel to Las Vegas to bring her home.
