A North Carolina-based company has recalled several boxes of chocolates due to the risk of serious or potentially life-threatening allergic reactions.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, certain assorted bonbons made by French Broad Chocolates PBC may contain undeclared walnuts, posing a danger to consumers with nut allergies.
The affected products include 6-, 12-, and 24-piece boxes of Bette’s Bake Sale Bonbon Collection with batch codes 260414 and 260417. These items were packaged and sold between April 14 and April 20, 2026, at retail stores in Asheville, North Carolina.
The chocolates were also sold online and shipped to multiple states, including Kentucky, as well as the District of Columbia and dozens of other states nationwide.
The issue stems from a labeling error in the tasting notes, where Peach Cobbler bonbons were mistakenly identified as Walnut Fudge and vice versa. This mix-up could lead a consumer to unknowingly eat a nut-containing piece.
No illnesses have been reported so far.
