Louisville Metro Police worked Sunday to remove unwanted prescription drugs from the community.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Police spent Sunday collecting unused prescription medications across the city.
LMPD partnered with several Baptist Health, Walgreens, Kroger locations, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for drug drop-offs as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
Officials said 87 boxes were filled with unused and outdated prescription pills, totaling about 1,783 pounds of drugs that will be safely destroyed.
Residents who were unable to participate can still drop off unwanted medications during the DEA’s Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25. People can also find a nearby DEA collection site for proper disposal.
