A man now faces a murder charge after police say a woman was shot and killed inside a Jeffersontown apartment Tuesday night.
According to a citation from the Jeffersontown Police Department, officers responded to an apartment in the 3000 block of Fir Trail around 7:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her shoulder. EMS transported her to a hospital, where she later died during emergency surgery.
Police identified the victim as 19-year-old Noraa Deglow.
Officers arrested 21-year-old Adam Thomas at the scene. According to the report, they recovered a revolver from his jacket pocket containing one spent cartridge.
Thomas told police the two had been watching TV and smoking before the incident. He said he picked up the gun and tossed it, causing it to discharge.
Witnesses inside the apartment told officers that Thomas often removed his firearm and pointed it at others in what he described as a playful way. One witness also said they heard Thomas claim the gun had misfired immediately after the shooting.
Thomas is being held at Metro Corrections. He appeared in court Wednesday morning for his arraignment, where he pleaded not guilty, and a judge set his bond at $500,000 cash.
