A former Kentucky high school teacher was recently indicted and arrested on multiple child sex crime charges.
Zachary Hill, 35, of Pikeville, was indicted on March 5 on two counts of using a computer or communications system to procure or promote the use of a minor for unlawful sexual activity, along with one count of tampering with physical evidence. Court documents state he was arrested on April 1 after officials discovered an active warrant while he was paying a fine at the Pike County Judicial Center.
Hill previously worked as a teacher at Shelby Valley High School, according to TV station WYMT. The station also reported that he served as a bus driver and softball coach.
The indictment states that Hill held a position of authority or special trust when he communicated with two minors to “procure or promote certain prohibited sexual activity.” He allegedly contacted one minor between March 1, 2023, and May 31, 2023, and a second minor from Aug. 7, 2023, to Sept. 20, 2023.
According to the indictment, Hill also allegedly destroyed evidence. WYMT reported that he resigned after state police began investigating the allegations.
Hill is scheduled for arraignment on April 8 in Pike Circuit Court. He is currently being held at the Pike County Detention Center.
