LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A restaurant space on Brownsboro Road is set for another transformation, marking its third concept change in less than two years.
According to Louisville Business First, Wasabi — a Pan-Asian restaurant group based in Elizabethtown, Kentucky — plans to open its first Louisville location at 4864 Brownsboro Road later this summer.
Co-owner Dylan Lin purchased the business from chef David Danielson, a former executive chef at Churchill Downs who previously rebranded the space multiple times.
Danielson acquired the location, formerly known as Anoosh Bistro, in April 2024 and renamed it äta, reflecting his Swedish heritage. However, nearby construction reduced customer traffic, leading to a reported 35% drop in dinner service as people avoided the area.
He later shifted the concept again, reopening it as Hen House Café and Provisions, before Lin and the Wasabi group took over.
Lin said the new Wasabi location is expected to open in June or July following interior updates.
“We think it’s a pretty good neighborhood, and the hospital is coming up, so that’s what attracted us,” Lin said.
Despite ongoing construction in the area, Lin said he and his partners are not concerned about its impact on business.
The menu will feature sushi, hibachi bento boxes, and Chinese dishes, along with select Thai, Vietnamese, and Korean options. Prices are expected to range from $15 to $70.
“For every single different cuisine, we have a professional chef,” Lin said. “They’re doing every single part, so there’ll be zero worry about us having so many options.”
