Three women were arrested after refusing to leave a plane when they boarded with more carry-on bags than allowed, according to police.
Nafisa Dockery, 30, Davana Cochran, 26, and Dionjana Cochran, 21, were at Miami International Airport on Sunday night, boarding a Frontier flight to Philadelphia when the incident unfolded, according to arrest reports from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said a Frontier employee noticed the group had only paid for one of the two carry-on bags they brought. When asked to step out of line and pay for the additional bag, the women became involved in a verbal altercation with the employee.
After being told again they needed to pay or be removed from the flight, Dockery reportedly told the others, “We don’t have to listen, let’s just go,” according to the report.
The trio then rushed onto the plane through a door marked for authorized personnel only.
When officers arrived, a Frontier manager informed them the women’s boarding passes had been revoked due to their actions and requested their removal from the aircraft.
Police boarded the plane and told the women they no longer had valid boarding passes and needed to leave, but they refused.
Officers warned them they would be arrested for trespassing if they did not comply. Despite repeated warnings, the women continued to refuse and were arrested.
Authorities asked all passengers to exit the plane to carry out the arrests. As the women were escorted off, Dockery allegedly spat on someone.
Police said the women resisted arrest when officers attempted to handcuff them, leading to a brief struggle before they were taken into custody.
The incident delayed the flight by more than an hour.
All three women were charged with trespassing after warning and resisting an officer without violence. Dockery also faces an additional battery charge.
They were transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Information about their legal representation was not immediately available.
