Leaders say the goal is to improve access to quality child care and create more opportunities for families.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A new child care center is set to open in southwest Louisville.
Our Angels Child Care is launching a new center at New Life Directions Ministries in partnership with Thrive by 5 Louisville, according to the city’s mayor. The campus currently supports single parents.
“Just think what that means for the mom’s future and the kid’s future,” Mayor Craig Greenberg said. “It means that the moms can go back to school, get a degree, go back to work, knowing that their kids are safely housed, have great programming, and are learning every day to be even more prepared for Kindergarten and their years ahead.”
The center will assist families working toward stability by offering dependable child care while parents focus on employment, education, and housing.
It will also increase the number of available child care spots in the Valley Station community, where leaders say demand far exceeds capacity.
“We will serve children of this community,” Deve Collins, owner and executive director of Our Angels Child Care, said. “We will care for each and every child that comes through those doors with education and strive to create employment. We have also hired some of the parents that live here. We were able to hire six parents.”
Leaders emphasized that the initiative aims to broaden access to quality child care and create more opportunities for families throughout Louisville.
Officials say the center is currently in its final licensing stages and hopes to open to families soon.
