Cultured plans to reopen next month at a new distillery location after closing its original Butchertown shop.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Butchertown cheese and charcuterie shop will begin serving customers at its new location this spring.
Cultured will start operating out of Copper & Kings Distillery sometime in April, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.
The shop closed its original location on East Main Street on March 7 as it prepares to move around the corner to East Washington Street.
Cultured owner Jessica Mattingly said rising costs and the demands of parenthood led to the move.
“Things have gotten more expensive this last year — overhead is a lot more,” Mattingly told LBF. “But the other side is more personal. I have small kids and I’m here all the time. I had to find a way to be home on weekends and at nighttime.”
Cultured opened in September 2020 and highlights products from Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese, which Mattingly’s father operates on the family farm in Glasgow, Kentucky. The shop is known for its made-to-order charcuterie boards featuring local products from companies like Red Hog and What Chefs Want.
“Everyone will be able to to-go boards like they do now, but they have to come there if they want to dine-in,” Mattingly told LBF. “We’ll provide food for Copper & Kings, for their events. And they have that rooftop bar. People will be able to order charcuterie there.”
The shop has not yet announced specific days and hours for the new location.
