LMPD did not share specific details about the incidents at Waterfront Park, though witnesses reported that groups were breaking into fights.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – On Saturday night, LMPD sent additional officers to the Big Four Bridge at Waterfront Park following multiple incidents involving mostly juveniles.

When WAVE arrived at the park around 9 p.m., several people were seen walking around, though their ages were unclear. Multiple LMPD units were stationed in parking lots and along River Road with emergency lights activated.

LMPD did not specify the nature of the incidents, but witnesses at the park said groups were breaking out into fights. An LMPD spokesperson stated, “the incidents appear to involve mostly, if not entirely, unaccompanied juveniles.”

According to police, officers took enforcement action. Authorities recovered at least one firearm from a juvenile, who was cited and released to a guardian.

No injuries had been reported at the time of publication.

LMPD said officers remained on scene and would continue monitoring the area throughout the night.

This is not the first recent incident at the Big Four Bridge involving juvenile disturbances.

At 3 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a man who had been shot multiple times near the children’s water park area at Waterfront Park. He later died at the hospital.

Earlier in March, WAVE reported that both LMPD and Jeffersonville Police responded to multiple fights on the Big Four Bridge, which LMPD said involved mostly teenagers.
