Kentucky House Leader’s Wife Dies, Legislature to Pause for Funeral

FRANKFORT — Jessica Rudy, the wife of Republican legislative leader Steven Rudy of Paducah, died Wednesday at the age of 42.

House Speaker David Osborne said Friday that the legislature will not meet on Monday so members can attend her funeral. Steven Rudy serves as the Kentucky House majority floor leader.

According to an obituary from Milner & Orr Funeral Home, Jessica Rudy “enjoyed the beach, Lyon County basketball and quiet moments with Maddie,” the couple’s daughter.

Steven and Jessica Rudy had been married for 20 years. She was a volunteer with Beyond Uganda, and the obituary asks that donations be made to the Paducah-based Christian organization.

“She loved being with family most of all, especially her daughter Maddie, who she’d take anywhere just to see her happy,” the obituary states.
