KENTUCKY — More than 7,000 homes and businesses across Kentucky were without electricity Wednesday evening, according to outage tracking data.
PowerOutage.us reported that 7,298 customers statewide were without power out of about 2.47 million tracked customers. The outages account for roughly 0.3% of electricity users across the state.
Clay County reported the highest number of outages, with 1,548 customers without power. Fayette County followed with 1,061 outages, while Warren County had 699 affected customers. Additional outages were also reported in Laurel, Lawrence, Clinton, Greenup, and Carter counties.
Among utility providers, Jackson Energy Cooperative reported the largest number of outages, with 2,173 customers without electricity, impacting about 4.1% of its customer base.
Kentucky Utilities reported 1,614 outages, while Kentucky Power had 1,173 customers without service. Bowling Green Municipal Utilities and South Kentucky RECC also reported several hundred outages.
Kentucky ranked sixth nationwide for the total number of outages and fourth for the percentage of customers affected Wednesday evening. Utility crews continued working to restore electricity as officials monitored outages across the state.
