A Kentucky woman says an off-duty police officer followed her home after a disagreement on the highway, and the incident later went viral on social media.

Amanda Leigh (@thatgsxrgurl) shared the story in a video that has received more than 73,000 views. She explained that the incident happened in September 2025 but said she waited to speak about it out of respect for her husband.

Leigh said she and her husband were riding their motorcycles home when she noticed a car following her closely. Her husband was riding slightly ahead of her at the time.

According to Leigh, the car continued tailgating her and even took the same exit. When she arrived at her home, her husband had already pulled in. She then noticed a car parked at the end of the driveway. A man got out and began yelling at her about her driving, she said. The situation escalated when police cars later arrived at the house.

Leigh said the man identified himself as a police officer but was off duty. She claimed he was not in uniform, did not show a badge, and was not driving a police vehicle. She also said he had his wife and two young children in the car.

According to Leigh, the officer said he followed her home because his wife believed she had cut them off on the highway. Leigh also alleged that the officer admitted driving faster than 100 mph while following her.

She said she had images and videos documenting the encounter and claimed the officer threatened to send her husband to jail after he refused to provide information because there was no proof of wrongdoing.

“It’s people like you that make us hate officers”

Leigh directly named the officer in her video and criticized his actions, saying situations like this make it difficult for people to support law enforcement. She described the behavior as a “power trip.”

She also said that after speaking with attorneys and other police officers, several people told her they did not support the officer’s behavior. According to Leigh, another officer who responded to the scene later apologized to her and her husband about a week after the incident.

Addressing the officer directly in her video, Leigh said, “And it’s people like you that makes us hate officers. Which really sucks for the good officers, but, unfortunately, you have a bunch of s—y cops, and then the few good cops get a bad rap because you can’t keep your anger out of control because you had to show your wife that you were superior and that you could write us a ticket because she got p—d off.”

Leigh did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Mary Sue through TikTok messages and comments.

Commenters offer advice

Many viewers responded in the comments with suggestions and questions. One person asked whether she had contacted the police chief. Leigh replied that she had not, claiming the chief was the officer’s father.

“I hope you filed a complaint,” another user wrote. Leigh responded that she attempted to file a complaint with the mayor but said the mayor “didn’t care about the incident at all.” She added that she still plans to take the complaint to higher authorities.

Others suggested she contact a federal civil rights attorney.

Several commenters also expressed concern about the officer following her home.

“This is so unprofessional,” one person wrote.

Another commenter said that if the officer believed there was a traffic violation, he should have contacted dispatch instead of following her home and confronting her personally.

Leigh agreed, writing that the officer could have simply called another on-duty officer to handle the situation.

Similar road rage case involving an off-duty officer

The situation is not the first time an off-duty officer has been involved in a road rage incident.

In 2024, an off-duty police officer in Connecticut was caught on dashcam punching another driver after a dispute at a traffic light. According to the New York Post, the driver, Thomas Brocuglio, honked when the car in front of him did not turn at a red light.

The officer, identified as Allen Ganter, exited his vehicle and approached Brocuglio while flashing his badge. During the argument, Ganter threatened to call a supervisor and issue a ticket. The confrontation ended when he punched Brocuglio in the face.

Ganter was later charged with breach of peace and third-degree assault. He received a five-day unpaid suspension, was required to complete de-escalation training, and was removed from his position as a school resource officer.
